Kynar® PVDF: the preferred choice for piping systems
Kynar® PVDF is widely used in piping systems to handle corrosive, high temperature fluids in demanding industrial environments.
- Solid PVDF pipe: Provides uniform corrosion resistance, high purity, and long-term durability, making it well suited for systems where chemical compatibility and cleanliness are critical.
- PVDF-lined pipe: Combines the structural strength of metal piping with a Kynar® PVDF liner, delivering corrosion protection while maintaining mechanical robustness and cost efficiency.
- Dual laminate systems: Pair a thermoplastic PVDF corrosion barrier with a fiber-reinforced structural backing, enabling high corrosion resistance alongside enhanced mechanical strength for custom or large-diameter applications
Spotlight on: Kynar® PVDF for plenum piping
Arkema offers a variety of fluoropolymer grades under the names Kynar® PVDF and Kynar Flex® PVDF that are the only thermoplastics able to meet the ASTM E84 and UL 723 standards for flame spread and smoke generation in building and construction materials used in the plenum.
Plenum-rated Kynar® PVDF resins can be used as extruded piping for corrosive waste drainage applications. Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 piping and fittings manufactured out of Kynar® PVDF resins can be found in sizes from 1” to 12”.
Benefits:
- Only thermoplastics to pass ASTM E84 and UL 723
- Temperature rating up to 150°C continuous
- High chemical resistance to strong acids, mixed acids, chlorine, bromine, and many others. See full list of chemicals in our chemical resistance guide for waste drainage systems below.
- Lightweight and easy to install with various welding methods available as well as mechanical joining methods for dissimilar materials.
