Key Benefit: Elimination of Melt Fracture
Melt fracture elimination results in LLDPE with addition of Arkema polymer processing aids
In addition to traditional polymer processing aid applications, both Kynar® PVDF and Orgasol® polyamide polymer processing aids can be used as recycling aids, to improve the efficiency of mechanical recycling processes. The below paper introduces the concept of a polymer processing and recycling aid (PPRA). This paper measures the effect that a Kynar® PVDF polymer processing and recycling aid has in improving the film processing of recycled polyethylene resins. Both melt fracture elimination and pressure reduction were observed when a Kynar® polymer processing and recycling aid was added to a recycled polyethylene film process. This data suggests that film converters looking to increase recycled polyethylene output, or the amount of recycled polyethylene content in their process, can consider adding a Kynar® polymer processing and recycling aid to increase their processing efficiency.
