Designing more sustainable consumer goods with Arkema
Driving sustainability in consumer goods with Advanced Bio-Circular materials
Arkema's Advanced Bio-Circular materials are produced from a renewable feedstock: castor beans. They offer unrivaled performance combined with a more favorable sustainability profile.
Arkema is dedicated to continuously reducing the carbon footprint of its materials and offers customers comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) data to support their sustainability goals.

The High Performance Polymers range, which includes Rilsan® and Pebax® Rnew® polymers was attributed the “Solar Impulse Efficient Solution” label following an assessment performed by external independent experts and based on verified standards, a recognition for the extensive work done since the invention of PA11 in 1947.
Going circular: VIRTUCYCLE® advanced materials recycling program
From design to end-of-life, Arkema is fully committed to offer its partners solutions to develop circularity. Our Virtucycle® program enables our selected customers to partner with Arkema in open-loop and closed-loop initiatives for pre-consumer and/or post-consumer recycling projects for its specialty polyamides and PVDF resins.
We recycle, reengineer and recertify high performance materials to offer a dedicated range of grades containing recycled content and further reducing their carbon footprint.
Unlocking monomaterial design approach
Arkema's wide portfolio of Advanced Bio-Circular materials is based on the same chemistry, allowing overmolding and combination between grades to solve complex design challenges.
This approach helps achieve monomaterial designs that can be mechanically recycled in one step. Discuss with our team to learn more about design optimization with our materials.
How can polymer selection contribute to eco-design strategies ?
Arkema's Advanced Bio-Circular materials support designers in achieving eco-design principles:
- Extended life: Highly durable materials with sustained performance over time.
- Reducing environmental footprints of products: low global carbon footprint of Rilsan® PA11
- Circular economy: Monomaterial design approach to enable recycling of final product and a range of partially recycled materials available.
- Preventing waste: Easy processing of materials and the possibility of recycling scraps.
