Helmet molding treatment or Cranial orthosis is a treatment for correcting the shape of the baby's head. Newborns’ skulls grow quickly until the baby is 2 years old and it is soft as the cranial sutures are not fully fused yet. Cranial orthosis is often prescribed to babies with deformational plagiocephaly, brachycephaly or scaphocephaly. Depending on the diagnosis, the treatment might continue for several months. Cranial orthosis for babies has a hard shell outside and soft foam inside. The helmet can create a form to correct the head growth into a natural shape. Clinicians follow up with patients regularly depending on the babies’ need for adjustments. In this case study, we present Invent Medical’s innovation – custom-made and 3D-printed cranial orthosis Talee.
